I do not wish you sunshine all the way
’cause it’s going to rain some day.
I do not wish you smooth pathways
’cause God made rocky hills and deep valleys.
I do not wish you bubbling streams
’cause deserts are where souls grow.
I do not wish you laughter all day
’cause tears bring you closer to the Lord.
I do not wish you unending music
’cause silence makes the heart listen.
I do not wish you fulfillment and content
’cause hunger urges you to press on.
